About me

I’m Nicole, the face behind Back to the Wild.

I love being outside — honestly, it’s as simple as that. And when I’m not outside, I’m usually dreaming up lists of all the things I’ll do once I am.

My life has always been a joyful mish-mash of jobs and hobbies that blend nature and movement. I spent years wandering woodlands, designing play spaces and encouraging children not just to play in the wild, but to play at being wild too (still amazed that was a real job — thank you, BeWILDerwood).

Creating experiences that spark feeling, creativity and connection through movement eventually led me to yoga, qualifying to teach both adults and children. When the C word arrived (not Christmas, or the one you don’t say in front of your parents…the other one) like it did for many people, things shifted. The realities of designing began to feel a little lonely, with a balance of 90% screen time, 10% outdoor dream time.

Around that time, gardening crept from a hobby into a passion, with flowers quietly taking over my garden… and my life. When a local florist needed help in her cutting garden, I jumped at the chance — yet another job I loved and couldn’t believe I was being paid to do.

Now I freelance, weaving together all the things I love around my biggest (and smallest) joy — a wonderfully animated toddler. I’m always learning, having completed my Certificate in Practical Horticulture in 2025, with plans to add some specialist yoga training over the next year.

Back to the Wild is really just an excuse to bring people together who love the same things. Through collaborations with brilliant facilitators, we create experiences that celebrate bodies and minds — mixing creativity, movement, fresh air and nature. We’re here to build community in the Norfolk wilds and help you find joy in nature, whatever that looks like for you.
